Dates Pickle

If you are a great fan of pickles, you will surely like this Dates pickle. I should say its a finger licking one, with  sweet, spicy and tangy flavours and all of which you can clearly distinguish. You can have this pickle with almost anything..rice, dosa, bread or even chapathi. It's just like a spread rather than a pickle. My hubby just loved it and I am sure the pickle will vanish in no time :) So do try this chatpata pickle and let the taste buds have a blast!!

What you need?

1 cup chopped Dates
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
2 tsp Chilli Powder or to taste
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
1 tbsp Tamarind extract
3-4 Curry Leaves
1 tsp Oil
Salt

How to prepare?

Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and then the ginger-garlic paste. Saute for few seconds until the raw smell goes. Add about 1/2 cup water and then the dates. When the water boils, reduce the flame, cover and cook. After a few minutes, you can see that the dates are almost cooked. Now add salt, chilli powder and tamarind extract.Mix well and let the mixture thicken. Finally add asafoetida and mix. Dates pickle is ready. Once cooled, store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated.

To all my US blogger friends...Have a wonderful long weekend !!

Sending this to HLI-Dates event at Munch Munch Crunch Crunch, an event initiated by Kalyani.
